Goldsmiths Design Festival 2017

Location: Goldsmiths St James Hatcham Gallery

Goldsmiths Design Festival

Listen is a pop-up sound installation exhibition supported by Goldsmiths University Annual Fund and is dedicated to giving a voice to refugees whose voices are not heard, by allowing the community to listen to the individual stories of why people are migrating from a migrant’s perspective. The purpose of the exhibition is to help change the consciousness of people who are xenophobic towards refugees.

The personal stories of refugees will be transmitted through 20 suspended headphones allowing the public to rotate and hear multiple stories, and share their thoughts through an interactive message board.  Alongside the sound installation will be a photographic gallery showcasing images of the storytellers’ hands.
